Largest Tornado in Recorded History
The waterfall that was being blown back up is probably the craziest thing I’ve ever seen!
I wouldn't be out there. Id be underground.
Somebody watching??😊😊
This was a unique video showing the workings and processes of the DOWs and the Center for Severe Weather Research. Thank you for sharing this footage, this was awesome to watch all the way through.
You guys are in a world record bruh
sad to not see herb driving the dow :( he was a awsome man
What…
you guys are lunatics getting so close to this stuff 😂
Wow that was an insane tornado!
🤤 😵💫
That's the proper reaction ~
Sickkkk, keep the jams coming boys 🤘🏻
Epic anticrepuscular rays!
It was a stunner ~ Thank you !
It was a stunner ~ Thanks for the comment!
👍👍
Turn on your flashers, clean your rear window, eat some peanuts or a granola bar ☠️☠️😂
Hope he had storm coverage...
The barn was never rebuilt, but a new shed eventually popped up nearby. The debris bent fence was still there !
This is just strange to me, and I’m not taking away from the devastation and the people affected. I am so sorry this happened to them. But, were the porta potties placed after? Doesn’t seem possible, but how are they still standing?
We drove South across a tornado path from the previous week. The Moore, OK EF-5 was still being cleaned up when this event occurred.
17:13, if you look carefully at the white picket fence on south side of Reno Rd you can see what appears to be the Aussie chasers Dave Croan, Michael Thomas and Jimmy Deguara backing into the driveway of that farm/business. Their footage shows them sitting in that driveway next to the fence with numerous chasers including Richard Henderson (in a mineral gray metallic Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab pickup), Scott Peake/Kevin Rolfs (in a black Chevy Tahoe) and Bill Ford/Jimmy Story (in an Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer) all going east.
k
Beavis and Butt-Head chasing tornadoes.
Finally an accurate summary of our storm chasing, if only it was reality tv worthy I know who plays me in the eventual movie ~
Finally somebody who knows how to drive
I'd ride with that fella any day.
12:42 That's a TIV-2, an interceptor model primarily used by Sean Casey's team.
Josh is amazing
A contribution to the weather community that still hasn't been fully realized imo.
Great video but sad it destroys lives! But that is nature unfortunately it’s beautiful and deadly!
Thank you for the comment! It can be a tough situation sometimes to enjoy these storms, however they will occur regardless. These observations and the public interest and awareness they bring may be our best chance at furthering the science and better understanding tornadoes in the end.
Yeah theres some pretty cool stuff out here in the bighorn basin. No offense to you n your people but it does , whats a good word. Concern It does Concern me that the BLM is basically selling a local resorce or commodity thats being taken to another state. Yet I, a lifetime resident here cant legally take any of those same fossils home. I called the local BLM office a while back. I was connected to a woman who i askes "how does a person get a permit to remove vertebrate fossils from public land? Im a high school educated concrete finisher. Whats the chance i can get a permit?" The woman said well probably much of a chance. I would need a collage degree in whatever and that the fossils would be being removed for educational purposes. I said "Ok, if the fossils are going to a museum then its not only for educationl purposes!" We have a museum in Worland that doesnt have a freaking thing in it! I dont know what they are charging for permits but couldn't possibly be worth it leaving the state." I know where a bunch of this stuff is. Way back in high school my biology teacher used to take his students out to find and collect fossils. Thats before it was a capital offence to do so. I spend over 50 years out here in the badlands. I havent quite pinpointed where you people were at but i know ive been there. I would be willing to take people out to known spots i have and help excavate/ collect fossils if they were going to the museum in worland or at least not leave the state. I told this woman that and havent heard back. So. If and when you come back out here. Give me a shout. Will talk about it.
I live in worland wyo. This looks like my back yard
Omg
Pretty awesome.
I'm sorry my son's head was blocking your view. 🤣
Acceptable problem and great depth of field. Sorry I didn't get a better photo for you two !

What cell type single cell, multicell, squall line or supercell
Jon Davies did an excellent write up on this event ! davieswx.blogspot.com/2012/05/prolific-non-supercell-tornado-outbreak.html?m=1 Non-supercell, non-mesocyclonic multi-cell seemed to be the conclusion ... 🫣
Excellent moody videography, you guys never disappoint!
Thanks Sonia ! More soon me hopes~
Local sun baby
Sounds like a band name !

Fantastic footage. Have a great day ❤️🙂⚘️.
Been awhile but I'm still here. Well assembled! 🤠👍
Thanks John, appreciate you sticking around! Will be sure to make it worth your while ~
Amazing material here! Even though I can only listen to these videos, I get a lot out of reading the description and comments using text-to-speech software. The only thing that would have made it better is if you had everything in stereo or binaural audio, but you captured some of that awesome sound at the beginning. You also got some of the best audio later in the video, and I love what y'all did near the end. It was so sad to hear that those good people decided to relocate. Let's hope they found better circumstances overall for them.
Thank you for the comment and I promise to up the audio game. And thank you for listening !
Aww. Thank you so much. @@ChaoticHorizons
Commentary and music were annoying, hope you've grown up in the 10 years since this was shot!
Commentary was too real to acknowledge this comment. We've grown around this event and keep chasing regardless of people like you.
I thought the exact opposite. I liked both what they had to say and the music was real good.
@@stevekocinski383 thanks Steve, the music was created by composer and fellow storm chaser William Stromberg for our tv series (which never sold). As for the commentary, such is life.
I think the music is just fine, as a fellow musician and having played in Orchestra and Jazz Band in High School and Continued my Music after in a Professional Surrounding, I'd have to say. It was the calming before The Storm !! Job Well Done !! You all be safe out there !!@@ChaoticHorizons
What’s crazy is that you dismissed him calling a lot of crazy shots before they happened He knew something game changing was coming just not exactly where or when within a 15 mile radius Him waiting it out from a safe distance was the smartest thing Ive heard from that day other than Pecos Hank pulling out directly in front of the mesocyclone reaching down in front of “ HIM “
I would say it bagged two barns.
Twas a smaller, newer built shed, but you make a valid point.

Beautiful ❤️
Wow! Nice video!! 👍👍
All yak yak yak and never any damage. Rotten waste of time.
No one forced you to watch
The tornado did ef3 damage
Gotta love them DOW, now COWboys xD Happy Hunting
The F Bombs could have improved your video.
Once that thing got really cranking it threw down multiple vortices dancing around the main funnel.....when I saw that, it looked like a freaking merry-go-round turned into a monster.....it gave me full-body chills. 😮
Some footage showed some vortices that circling around the main vortex. Especially that Weather Channel's footage moment before they got hit by tornado.
The beat beat beat music at 20:09 sounds like the soundtrack music from the movie Re-animator lol
At 20:15 you can see headlights in the distance around the middle of your screen. Does anyone know what road that is?
At 17:18, seeing the spin on the mesocyclone is so beautiful. I can understand why I see so many videos of people unable to pull themselves away from watching, even as the tornado moves closer and closer. I’m sure in their mind they’re telling themselves “just one more minute, just one more minute..”.
Indeed. One of the first things I learned in my storm spotting courses was, “Don’t get sucked in.” Meaning, literally AND figuratively. Lol.
Every time I see that small compact car they were in chasing deadly storms I scratch my head
